Photo exhibition at Gallery Unbound

For the first of our 2026 posts, we have exciting news to share with you on the photography front.

Over the years we have had a few of our photos printed on aluminium at Print 2 Metal. Some of these hang onboard Anui as it is a light and practical way to display our favourite reef, underwater and whale images. You can opt to stick the aluminium on a wall with adhesive strips. No damage, no holes to drill. At home we display our metal prints mounted on a floating hanger, a frameless option where the print appears to float off the wall.

Anyway, late in 2025 I was approached with an invitation. Print 2 Metal would curate a group exhibition at Gallery Unbound in Melbourne featuring photographers who print with them. You could submit two images or more taken in 2025 to be printed, framed and showcased at an art place focused on offering real artist support, marketing, and lower commissions.

I was quite excited and decided to take part. I have submitted two images in large format, both taken in South West Tasmania: an aerial seascape and a shot of a Shy Albatross in flight.

This is the first time I exhibit, so it is a great opportunity to test how my work is received publicly. Exposing each piece to an audience comes with its challenges but who knows, I might be lucky and sell both, and if not, they will take pride of place at home.

The exhibition will run from 28 January to 15 February 2026 at Gallery Unbound, 497 High Street, Northcote. It will also be online at https://galleryunbound.com.au.

Print 2 Metal attracts some very talented artists, so it is sure to be a fascinating event. Visit in person, join us for the celebrations or check out the exhibition online.

  1. Oh, I wish !!! Always having been the biggest art gallery visitor ‘in the world’ . . . and these people look as if the truly know where they are going – I do wish I did have a genie who could bring me over! I truly am excited for you . . . there may be a new facet to your life! When you first mentioned it I somehow thought you should have chosen photos from the tropical seas with their unreal hues and exotic locations . . . but, having another look at the two . . . their photographic merits should make onlookers interested in your work . .. a landline career in the offing 🙂 ?

    • Hi Eha, it was difficult to choose which images to submit and although I could have entered more, the cost of printing, framing and exhibiting if I sell is prohibitive, even with a gallery that has relatively low commission. So for this time, just two images we are happy to hang at home if they don’t sell.

      • Am naturally totally ignorant as to the production costs . . . for instance was not aware there was an ‘exhibition cost’ – thought all ‘they’ got was a commission if they sold . . . somehow I don’t think those two will be hanging on your wall after the exhibit 🙂 ! Besides their quality the photos are too ‘decorative’ if I may use a wretched commercial term. Bestest and shall hold onto the gallery email and look when the time comes up.

  2. How exciting ! Congratulations Chris. And we may even get to view them as we are currently at Bunyip, Victoria, for most of the Summer.

  3. Great news Chris & a Happy New Year to you both. Will try to get to the exhibition. Both dealing with a lurgy here so not a great way to start the new year. Welcome to land life eh!

    • Would be great to see you both in person. Hope you get better soon. We are both feeling like little oldies. With our aches and pains from pushing too hard!

  4. Your photography is stunning. Happy New Year & keep going with your beautiful work.

    Cheers
    Mick & Lyn
