One Four Challenge – January Week 4

Here we are in our final week of the January One Four Challenge, hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me.  This is a photo processing project whereby you select an image and edit it in four different ways over four weeks.  I have had fun once again this month and picked up a few tips.  But most of all I have enjoyed the interaction with other participants who are very supportive and positive in their comments.

Week Four Processing

For this final week, I have gone back to using the Tangled FX app and simply used the Fibre effects option.  I fined tuned the scale factor, the colour, contrast and hue, and here is the result!

I love the sparkling effect it gives to the wings and reeds.  The Spoonbills really stand out and there is good detail.  What are your thoughts about this week’s processing?

Time to vote!

Here are the four processed images, including the original.

In week 4, we include a poll for you to select your favourite image.  I would love to know which of the four interpretations is your preferred version.  Thanks for voting!

  1. You nailed it with week 4 Chris. It,s my favourite the wings really stand out the spoonies look fantastic. Sue

  2. I love how detailed the birds are this week, I have enjoyed each week for different reasons but this week is my favorite. It is balanced and detailed in all the right places 🙂 Great edits this month, they were all very interesting.

  3. Looks like you’re having fun with Tangled, Chris! 🙂 It was a toss up for me between the fibers and the swirls. I voted for the swirls, but it could easily have gone the other way. 🙂

  4. It’s a toss up between week 2 and week 4.. but I think I’ll vote for week 4, because I really like the details on the wings. 😀

  5. The fibre effects is beautiful Chris – I really like the silky light flowing feel 😃
Im on iPad too… I’ll be back to vote! This week is lovely!

    • Thanks Robyn – you should be in bed! My excuse for being up is that I am on night watch… We are 3 hours from Lakes Entrance… Nearly home!

      • I am in bed Chris…. Lol
So many players now, Im doing a bit of visiting before sleep 😃😃
Was wondering how your trip was going? Hope its been great! Is raining on the coast near Sydney and inland presently with a top of 13 deg C on the Central tablelands today. Crazy weather!
        Safe trip home Chris xx

      • Yes it’s been pretty chilly out on the water too! And I know what you mean about the number of participants. Hard to get to everybody! But it just shows the interest. Nighty night xx

  6. This is such a great image. Like someone else has commented, it looks like the grass is on fire. I really like the effect but I have to say I prefer week two for the detail on the birds.

  7. Chris Love the extra detail in this weeks version, I love this fractalised kind of effect myself and it works really well here, the detail in the grass and water is fun and the birds are ethereal now 🙂

  8. Week 2 swirls wins my vote, however I wish to comment that all were excellent photos. If push comes to shove, I would have to vote for the least favourite and that is the Tapestry effect. Really special photos here for all weeks. You have outdone yourself!!!

  9. I love this week’s edit! The detail on the wings is just gorgeous. The gouache version is a close second. You captured a lovely image and have produced some great edits. I look forward to seeing what you share with us next month. 🙂
