One Four Challenge – September Week 2

For week two of the One Four Challenge, a photo processing project kindly hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me, I am continuing my wander among the mangroves.

Week Two Process

This week I wanted to ‘simplify’ the image and bring out the foliage and aerial roots more.  So using my Week One edit as the base, I imported the image into Foto Sketcher and selected the Cartoon pre-set, tweaked the settings and added some texture.

Here is how the image now looks:

Mangrove – Week Two

I have put the original, last week’s and this week’s image in a slide show, so you can see the progression.

As always, I welcome your feedback.

  1. I love the mangroves, they have such interesting twists and turns. I quite like what you have done with your photo Christine and cant wait to see the next two! 🙂

  2. I don’t normally like the “cartoon” presets in apps, but whatever you did to tweak this one is great. I like how you’ve kept the textures and colors. Great edit, Chris!

  3. I’m not crazy about the banding that occurs in the sky, but the cartoon styling make the rest of this image very appealing. This is a great image for experimenting with these different looks!

    • Hi Joanne, yes it is fun to experiment and you can really change the mood. I love mangrove trees and this line is particularly good for different treatments.

  4. Hi Chris – Simplifying your image for this week, has almost made it more about patterns. Love those crazy tree roots and quite like what has happened to the sky. A good experiment 😃

  5. I like the cartoon effect. I really like how the ground became really interesting and the richer colors as well, great job. 🙂
