Every cay you spend time at is different, and some have a special feel. This was the case at South West Cay, part of the Herald Cays Group which was smaller, seemed more remote, wilder than all the others.
Oh what a feeling when you arrive at this cay: from the blue abyss 800m deep, to a 5m deep anchorage in sand, with graduations of aqua, turquoise and ultramarine all around. Welcome to our favourite Coral Sea anchorage to date: North East Herald Cay!
Our first Coral Sea anchorage and longest stay was at East Diamond Islet. Why do they call it Diamond? Because it is a diamond of an anchorage, and the ocean sparkles like nowhere else we have been. We stayed there for 8 days through calm and not so calm conditions. Here is why.
