Now that we are back from the tropics and south of latitude 25, we are getting organised to make improvements on the boat and are mapping out how we will spend summer.
We missed it so much: feeling the wind in our sails and our speed through the ocean. Sailing to Fraser Island has been fun, even if the weather to get there has been capricious: rain, swell, strong wind… That was the downside, but even in these conditions we were in such a state of withdrawal after weeks of inactivity that we enjoyed the sailing and the freedom.
We have reached Fraser Island! Last stop before we head out to the very south of the Great Barrier Reef and begin the next phase of our odyssey.
A lovely part of sailing is the friendships you make along the way and the reunions with fellow yachties at anchorages. There is something about sharing amazing ocean experiences and crossing paths for short periods that make seafarers’ relationships special.
