Our Cruise Story about our June 2023 Swain Expedition is ready and we hope that our readers will enjoy this virtual guided tour of one of the most remote spots on the Great Barrier Reef.
When we have experienced a great adventure, we typically document an account of our voyage. It is a memento of our impressions, observations, a compilation of our best photos, a journal of what we did.
The Swain Reefs Expedition certainly qualifies as an outstanding adventure. This time, our cruise story goes further though. Because there is so little information available about this stunning part of the Great Barrier Reef, we decided to provide more details about where we went than usual, including anchorage coordinates. This is our contribution to the cruising community.

An amazing 21 days. All the planning paid off and other boaties now have the benefit of your knowledge and experience. You might see more adventurers out there next time!
Possibly, Ann, although we find not many people go out that far offshore. The majority prefer coastal cruising. We will definitely try to go back and explore the central and northern reefs.
Beautiful photographs, thoughtful explanations and great general writing. You’ve done it again Chris and Wade. All the best, Tom & Lou
Glad you enjoyed the virtual tour, Tom & Lou! Thanks for saying hello.
Brilliant work Chris and Wade. Just skimmed your adventures atm, still a bit weary after a quickfire cultural tour of Latvia with a few grandchildren. You definitely have the material for a reef cruising book if you ever get the time to collate your writings and adventures! Enjoy your time onshore guys!
Hi Elgar! Latvia with the grandies sounds interesting and exhausting!
We do have a lot of material for a reef cruising book. Need to find a publisher though!
You can always self publish for free via Amazon or other sources. Seems a lot of fiction authors are doing this to avoid the middle man. My one and only novel was published this way. Alas, it didn’t take off ;-(
Self-publishing… food for thought… We enjoyed reading your novel!
Wow, such an inspirational guide – maybe we’ll get to use it next year! Thanks guys for your generous contributions to cruisers.
Great to hear from you two! Hope you get to use this and explore. We will definitely be back and start work on the sequel!
Where are you these days?
Unfortunately we have a few things keeping us at home this winter.
Maybe we’ll sail together next year.
