  2. What a fabulous record of the adventure! It was a privilege and a joy to share it with you both, and Bengie!!

We’re plotting our next short trip out to the Swains before we need to collect our overseas visitors in Hervey Bay and go play with whales.

Look forward to buddy boating with you again in the future ❤️

    • Thanks Helene & Graham, for the kind feedback. We too are sure to go via the Swain Reefs on our way south.

We hear from Havachat that the whales are wonderful and come mere meters from your anchored boat so you and your friends are in for a treat! Till we team up again 🥰

  3. Great wrap up. Certainly some very special spots.

Might have to get that Bigger boat!?

  4. That’s an excellent piece of work! You’re leaving behind an amazingly documented legacy of not just life on the reefs, but cruising sailing adventures.

I especially liked the resting birds stories …. on Wade’s head? Next to a cat? What safer places? Reminds me of my sail down the west coast USA, when this tiny yellow finch like bird, had about a half hour rest in its flight from LA to Catalina Island. Poor thing was so exhausted …. hope she made it!

    • Hi Elgar and Claire, we certainly have been building a cruising guide for this remote area of the GBR. It is satisfying.

Aren’t birds amazing when they don’t fear you. We had that happening underway from Elizabeth Reef, off Lord Howe Island with two gorgeous white terns. They stayed with us in the middle of the ocean for several hours. You wonder how they find their way back ‘home’.

  5. I loved reading about your Swain Reef adventure! Very keen to explore and snorkel the Swains!

I am also fascinated by the Flatworms and Nudibranchs; I get thrilled when spotting one!

    • Hi Rochelle, the central and northern parts are the best for snorkeling, less damaged by Crown of Thorns Starfish. There is more to explore there for us and we will make it our target if we come back up.

The nudis and flatworms are always a treat… so hard to spot!
