With its fragile, slender appearance, and its prominently up-curved bill, the Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) is an elegant and distinctive Australian wader, and the subject of our #36 Bird Photography Challenge.
We might have had a break from sailing last weekend, but we were not far from the ocean! Having not been to our place down the coast for months, it was nice to rediscover Jan Juc. Sometimes, even a very overcast morning can be fruitful for long exposure photography with friend Leanne Cole.
This one is for our family in France, a flash back to the wonderful experience we had last winter when we cruised together for the very first time. It seems so long ago, but a welcome reminder of the special time we shared.
