It is the first Monday of the month, which means only one thing: it’s One Four Challenge time again! This photo processing project is hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me. We choose our own image and work on four different interpretations over four consecutive weeks.
July Image
As our followers know, I am at home alone for a few weeks while my partner Wade is taking our boat to Queensland. I will be joining in the fun in Mid July, when my family arrives from France and we will spend three weeks together, cruising the Southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Bengie, our Bengal cat, has gone with Wade. The house is empty without them!
So when I thought of a subject for the July One Four Challenge, it had to be Bengie. She is a cat with an attitude and I will have fun playing with this image, taken on board with my iphone! I miss her chats and her cuddles, so it’s a good excuse to spend some time with her virtually. Here is the orginal:
Week One Process
As you can see the original is quite dark. So my week one task is simple: lighten her in Lightroom, open up the shadows, up the clarity and vibrance. Here is the result. Isn’t she gorgeous? Look at those whiskers and her beautiful eyes… OK I am a bit biased!
As always, be sure to check other participants work by clicking on the One Four Challenge tag. There is quite a band of photographers taking part and it’s fun to see what everyone else focuses on.
She IS gorgeous! So is your edit. 🙂
Thanks John 😊
Oh I agree – she is gorgeous Chris 😃
What a beautiful girl and a fun image for July!
Great first edition.
Morning Robyn, I am glad you like my girlie. 🙂
I do. She is beautiful and a happy looking girl 😃
Love how your edits have highlighted the super-model that Bengie obviously is – simply beautiful! 🙂
LOL – yes she is a bit of a star…
Well I know you haven’t been totally alone all the time, lol.
I love this image of Bengie and love what you’ve done to it.
Thank you for liking my edit… And for your company😊
What a beautiful cat! I love the attitude – a glint of mischief in her eyes! 😉 You did a great job with this edit. I love how you pulled out all the details on her fur and whiskers.
That Kirsten – you’ve got her sussed out! Thanks for the feedback.
I can’t wait to see what you do next week 🙂
great job lightening and brightening the photo
Thanks Marsha – just went for the obvious to start with.
She certainly looks like a cat with attitude! Nice edit…
Hi Sue, yes she isn’t your demure little critter!
Hehehe!
love it, can’t wait to see where you take it
Thanks Julz!
Amazing, she is quite a character. Your edit is excellent, bringing forward all the details.
Thanks Loré 🙂
You’re not at all prejudiced when you say she is gorgeous. She really is a striking cat and your edit shows up her markings wonderfully.
Thanks Eliza and miaou from Bengie!
Look at those teeth! Does she bite? Looking fierce, Chris!
Ah ah Wade called her ‘stink’ because as a kitten she was all claws and teeth, and was a little ‘stinker’. The name stuck. She can still be a bit feisty!
love him but he’s a bit scary- like the Cheshire Cat!! Wonderful edit Chris!
Hi Cybele – now first of all Bengie is a girl! and yes she is bright and in your face a bit!
sorry -“she!”
Great job and splendid whiskers 😉 my cats do this when I’m on the computer all the time
Cheeky buggers! Thanks for the feedback!
I don’t know. I would think you’d have more fun playing with Wade. I mean, with a photo of him! But you did an excellent job.
You make me laugh! … That will be happening as soon as I join him on board next week… The playing with Wade, I mean, not his photo!😜
Ok, I’d rather you didn’t get too specific.
😄😍
What a beautiful cat! Great edit. 🙂
Thanks😊
What eyes! Beautiful. Yes, great job with this first edit, makes all the difference to see all of the image. Fun subject and image, you are going to have fun this month!
Hi Carrie – yes it’s fun to play particularly while I haven’t got her with me!
Yes, of course! I totally understand that.
A nice rescue opening up the shadows, although pushing them too far in future edits may be problematic.
Thanks Ben – won’t be an issue as you will see in the next two weeks. Have had to plan ahead as I am about to join Wade and the pussycat on board! 😊
