Images of France: Paris

We have escaped! Our tour of duty over, it was time for some fun. We have been in Paris, enjoying being tourists in this iconic city – just a few days to take in the landmarks, gastronomy and culture.

Off on a 3 hour Segway tour of Paris!

We started with a bang, joining a three hour Segway tour of the city. What a cool and fun way to whiz around and cover all the major sites! It was pricy but well worth it. Over the following three days, we then returned by foot to places we wanted to spend time at. We walked and walked! Paris is such a magic place with its 19th century cityscape crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the Seine River. The buildings are grand, the architecture remarkable. We explored lots of places and wandered through museums on rainy days.

We also did a bit of eating…  well a bit too much! We spotted this sign at one of the cafés at Montmartre and followed the advice!

We are now off to Haute Savoie in the Alps with our friends Phil & Jo, for a few days near Avoriaz, where they have a chalet. Ski in ski out luxury awaits, before we head back home to Australia.

The gallery shows you some of the highlights. Click on the first image to display in full screen slideshow and do read the captions for details. The inside images were taken with the iphone and Struman Optics fisheye lens, which we found did a good job of rounded features. Most others were taken with the Canon camera & Tamron lens.

  1. Great Photography! Fantastic compositions if you ask me. Your future album or book is going to be fabulous looking Chris. Have fun my dear! 🙂

  2. Devastatingly beautiful city of edifices and ideas you captured so beautifully in photos! Note for Wade. I had a ski trip with Mum and Dad in Avoriaz back in 1990. Dad was having heart valve issues so was struggling a bit but he still got out there. I remember ski paragliding off a cliff attached to a guide – just awesome. Hope you get good snow. Love from Monterey.

    • Hi Craig- like your description of Paris. Yes this city is jaw droppingly beautiful! The snow is supposed to be superb! We’ll soon find out if we can get to the chalet… there is so much snow!

  3. Paris looking gorgeous, as it should, and not too many of those pesky tourists around by the looks of it. Especially like the fish eye effect on the domes. Hope the skiing is great, the resort sounds blissful with no cars and lots and lots of snow.

    • It has been good to look after ourselves for a few days and play tourists! Now in the Alps – drove in the snow up to the chalet… looking gorgeous.
