After our Coral Sea Atolls trip, we spent a week at K’gari to hide from the weather and plot our next big adventure. So here is a break from offshore posts!
Forty knot winds was what brought us back to the coast from the Coral Sea, so we tucked ourselves in against the sand hills along Platypus Bay and waited there for a week. It was a nice change of pace. We enjoyed the variety of moods, activities and scenery. We had some exercise: beach and bush walks, kayaking up the little creeks. It was a good opportunity to really test our Tandem Kayak in the waves and up the streams. It was fun, tracked well and we did not get wet or capsize!
This gallery will give you a taste of what we got up to.

And now, we have moved on. As the weather improved, we dashed back to Urangan to refuel and re-provision, then came back to Rooney Point at the very tip of K’gari, with the intention of heading offshore again, this time to the Swain Reefs. Graham and Helene on Roobi are with us.
Here we are, lazily sailing downwind:

We left Rooney Point on Tuesday. We’ll see how long we are gone for and where we end up. Stay tuned!

Lovely photos, Guys! I’m glad that you enjoyed a break from the open sea. Have fun on your next adventure. 👍🏻😎🇦🇺

Looks like good fun! Tandem kayak in action we see!
It was, good fun going up the creeks and we did not end up with a wet bottom like we used to with the old single ones.
