Mastead Island Aerial

Deserted Masthead Island

Our third coral cay on this trip, Masthead Island, offers a different seascape again.  A long strip of Pisonia forest with a thin beach of crushed coral all around and reef exposed at low tide, you can only access the island with ease at high tide.  At low tide the fringing reef makes it impossible…

Pancake Creek

Hiding in Pancake Creek

What do you do at an anchorage called “Pancake Creek“?  Have pancakes of course, especially since it’s Didier’s 60th birthday! We arrived at Pancake Creek back on the Capricornia Coast last Monday night after a rollicking sail from Lady Musgrave. We had to leave the reef to shelter from strong SE winds.

Underwater Treasures

The delights of coral cays are… you guessed it, reef viewing, colourful corals, tropical fish and all this in warm waters in the middle of winter for us.  Lady Musgrave really has it all: excellent coral pools, a beautiful turquoise lagoon, and an island full of gorgeous birds.
